- £35 to £90 an hour in Reading
- What the price buys
- Is a PT worth it?
- Coached groups as the middle ground
- Next to Reading station
A personal trainer in Reading costs between about £35 and £90 an hour in 2026. The low end is usually a trainer renting floor space in a budget gym, the high end is a studio in the town centre with its own kit. At Unleashed Performance, at Apex next to Reading station, we offer one to one personal training and coached group training, which members describe as having a PT with you. We send the current options on WhatsApp rather than printing a price list, because the right block depends on you.
What the price buys
The hourly rate is only part of it. What you are paying for is what happens around the hour: an assessment with real numbers, a written programme that gets updated, a coach who checks in between sessions, and a gym with the racks and floor space to do the plan. A cheap session with none of that costs more over three months than a dearer session with all of it.
What to ask
Ask three things before you pay anyone. What do you measure and how often? We use an InBody scan every four weeks. What happens between sessions? Our coaches are on WhatsApp. And what does the first month look like for someone like me? Ours starts with OnRamp, four one to one sessions, whichever programme you choose.
Is a personal trainer worth it?
Is a personal trainer worth it? For most people, yes for the first block, and then coached group sessions do the job. Learning to lift properly with someone watching is the fastest way to stop feeling nervous in a gym, and the reviews on this site are full of people who came in intimidated and stayed for years. After that, four to a coach in the group sessions gets most people where they want to be, and personal training comes back in for a specific goal like a race, a hike or a return from injury.
Will you actually go?
If you work near Forbury Road or come through Reading station, the practical question is whether you will actually go. Two minutes from the platform makes that easier.

Questions
More on the cost
How much is a personal trainer per month in Reading?
At the Reading average of £50 to £60 an hour, one session a week is roughly £200 to £260 a month, and two a week is double that. Coached group training is how most people get a coach on the floor for less. Message us for our options.
Is a personal trainer worth it for a beginner?
Yes, for the first block. Learning the movements with someone watching is the difference between a gym habit and a membership you stop using. Here that block is OnRamp, four one to one sessions, and every new member gets it.
Do you offer a cheaper option than personal training?
Coached group training, about four to a coach, and the 6 Week Programme with half back after 15 sessions. Ask on WhatsApp and James will send you the options.
Can I try before I pay?
The free intro is a tour and a chat with no pressure. Book it on this page or message us on WhatsApp.
